Opportunity Details

Mobile Meals - Northern Virginia

Volunteers will aid in CAFB's Mobile Food Program by either riding in the Mobile Meals Bus or following behind the bus in their own vehicle. The bus will stop at multiple neighborhood sites in NOVA where volunteers will help serve meals and lead activities for children. Volunteers will aid in meal packaging, record recording, the set-up of tables, chairs, and signage, and the implementation of activities such as worksheets, arts and crafts, and games. Spanish speakers are desired for this opportunity as the communities we visit are predominantly Spanish speaking.
Volunteers should arrive at 2:30PM to CAFB's new Lorton office (6833 Hill Park Dr, Lorton, VA 22079 ) - upon arrival to the office, locate and enter the Mobile Meals Bus, a converted school bus labeled “Powering our community with good food” - and expect to be back to the Lorton office at the end of the shift by 8:00pm. If volunteers cannot stay through the last stop, they are welcome to leave early but must follow the bus in their own vehicle.
This opportunity takes place outside so volunteers should dress accordingly to the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. This opportunity also takes place around children so all clothing should be age appropriate.
Court-ordered hours are NOT ACCEPTED for this opportunity.
